Summer solstice, Ceiling Lamp in recycled plastic
Competition "Dialoga Arte", Fiera di Rho, Milan 2012
Summer solstice is a Lamp created with recycled plastic including forks, spoons, coffee cups, and transparent sticks. After they are trashed, I thought that they can be reused for other projects. I melted them in the oven at a temperature of 450 °F and above. The colors that I chose to recreate the feelings of the summer, remind me of my homeland, and the typical warm weather of the summer. I like to think that the warm colors of the lamp, when turned on, recreate a summer atmosphere that warms up the room.
Summer solstice arrived 3rd in the European
competition for Polibland Company “Dialoga Arte”.

Dressed by Light
Floor lamp in recycled plastic
“Dressed by light” is a modular floor lamp made of three main parts and contrasting colors. It is 51-inches tall and completely made of recycled materials. The structure comes from a metallic floor lamp and the pendants are made of purple, transparent, red, green, and golden plastic forks, spoons, sticks, and cups. The different colors create moments of light and shadows with both natural and artificial light making the lamp suitable for any time and room. The shape is reminiscent of nineteenth-century dresses. the top structure in red is the corset; the middle one in purple represents the hips; the bottom one in different colors is the large skirt. The three parts are connected by metallic rings. Dressed by light was thought for every room. indeed it is possible to modify the lamp based on what we need at a particular moment, or on our mood. We can choose all the three structures together or any combination. For instance, we can choose to have the first structure to warm up the room thanks to the red shadow, or the first and the second one to change “Dressed by light” from a nineteenth-century to a twenty-first-century woman.
